Old West Colt 1860 Army “Mormon Avenging Angel” .44 Revolver

$1,850.00

Old West Colt 1860 Army “Mormon Avenging Angel” .44 caliber Revolver. in fair working order as modified in the late 1800s. The pistol is not matching which is typical of these modified revolvers.

This gun’s barrel length has been cut down to 3″ often referred to as a “Snub-nose”, Belly Gun or “Mormon Avenging Angle” style. These modified cut-down revolvers got the nickname “Mormon Avenging Angel” in the mid-to-late 19th century from their association with Mormon Church leader Brigham Young’s personal bodyguard Orrin Porter. “Old Port” Rockwell, who is often called the “Avenging Angel” and “Mormon Avenger,” carried one of these style pistols. Rockwell was a renowned mountain man and scout, was a Deputy U.S. Marshal and long-time marshal of Great Salt Lake City.

This is one of several Old West Colt revolvers and so-called Coach Gun, short barreled shotguns that I have available from an old Cowboy gun collection.
