Sharps M1851 .52 Cal. Percussion “Box Lock” Carbine serial number 675…Rifle is in very fine condition and it retains a smooth brown patina on the metal finish with no serious pitting…Rifle functions correctly and locks up tight…Bore is clean and shows its age, but it is still strong…Dark wood stock has been professionally restored and repaired due to a serious wrist crack and old lacquer finish that was on the gun (repair was done by Al Edge who does restoration work for the NRA Museum in Virginia)… A chance to own one of the scarcest early Sharps rifles with a total of only 1,857 produced. This model was manufactured by Robbins & Lawrence in Winsor, Vermont and incorporated the Maynard tape primer as part of its the unique design.
Approximately 200 rifles and 1,800 carbines were manufactured between 1852 and 1855.
