Vintage Wade Chastain Engraved Custom Bowie Knife..Deeply engraved blade with an American Bald Eagle holding a scroll with the legend “Home of The Brave” in its beak ; the opposite side is engraved with scrollwork and WC initials…Mellow engraved polished brass hilt with beautiful ivory grip panels …Impressive 21 inch long bowie knife with intricate scrollwork and embellishment by Master Engraver Wade Chastain…Blade is 12 1/2 inches long and nearly 2 inches wide at the ricasso… Brass cross guard is 4 inches across with a 5 inch long grip and overall weight is approximately 5-6 pounds…A truly stunning exhibition quality knife of typical Chastain heroic proportions…The photos show if fairly well, but it has to be held and seen to appreciate the actual size and workmanship…Leather sheath was custom made by Gutcher at Sullivan’s in Tampa, Florida.

Wade was from Mills River, NC and died in 2010 at age 64…He made custom knives for over 25 years and to quote one good friend and client of his: “Wade didn’t know how to make a small knife”…He was a true Master Engraver and quit making knives a few years ago to concentrate on higher end gun engraving which is what he did until he died..
