Description
WWII German Hungarian jhv 43 G.98/40 8mm Rifle
This rifle is a fully matching, original example of the rare German‑issued G98/40, produced in 1943 at the FEG factory in Hungary. These rifles were first made early in World War II as the Hungarian Model 35 at the Metal Goods and Weapons Factory in Budapest. After German forces took control of the factory, the design was reclassified as the G98/40, and the facility was assigned the wartime production code “jhv.”
The G98/40 operates much like the standard German K98 rifle, sharing nearly identical front and rear sights. This similarity made training and reissue straightforward for German troops. The top of the receiver is stamped “jhv/43,” indicating both the factory code and the 1943 production year. The left side of the receiver is marked “G98/40,” and both the receiver and barrel display the large German eagle firing proof.
