The “Osttürkischer Waffenverband der SS cuff title is a rare late-war insignia of the Waffen-SS, produced in BeVo (Barmer Bandweberei Voelcker) machine-woven technique with white lettering on a green background

  • Formation & Purpose: The East Turkic Armed Formation of the SS was created in October 1944 as the 1. Ostmuselmanisches SS-Regiment. It was intended to expand into a division, the Muselmanischen SS-Division Neu-Turkistan.
  • Recruitment: Men came from disbanded Turkic battalions in the Wehrmacht (450th, 480th, I/94), Soviet prisoners of war, and defectors. The unit was part of Nazi Germany’s late-war effort to recruit Muslim volunteers from the Soviet Union, exploiting ethnic and religious divisions.
  • Operations: Transferred to Belorussia in February 1944, it was used for anti-partisan missions.
  • Rarity: These cuff titles were produced in the final months of the war making them among the rarest Waffen-SS insignia.
